Does Medicare let you choose which oxygen equipment you would like to have. For example, my cousin's daughter is disabled and she has a portable oxygen tank and an oxygen concentrator at home. I've seen advertisements however, for a portable oxygen concentrator and not just a portable tank. Do you think that Medicare would pay for that instead of just the portable tank?

I would call and ask the company that makes it. They can tell you much faster than calling Medicare. Don't be surprised if they won't cover it if it's very new technology, though. They usually prefer things that have been tested over time instead of something that may have issues.

It's more cost effective to go with something that has been around for a while. Not to say that they wouldn't cover something that is newer in tech, but more often the older stuff is less costly for them.

I think your best bet is to call the company you are getting your oxygen equipment from and they should be able to tell you what is covered and how much you will have to pay. They deal with this sort of thing every day and are there to help you.
