I was recently approved for Medicare and I got the notice telling me how much I owe for the Prescription Drug Plan. What are my options for paying for this?

You can simply pay the bill every month as it comes in or you can sign up for automatic debit from your checking account. You can also arrange to have it taken out of your social security check directly so you don't have to deal with it at all and you never have to worry about remembering to pay it or write it into your checkbook.

Cost will vary depending on which plan you choose, which drugs you use and whether you get help paying your Medicare Part D costs.

Most Part D drug plans charge a monthly premium (an average of $27.93), a $275 deductible and a small co-pay for each drug.

Some people qualify for extra help paying their costs. If you think you qualify, contact the Social Security Administration to apply.
