I don't know about the coverage you have with GEHA but Medicare itself does not cover hearing aids. This is something that is excluded by legislation so cannot be changed without some sort of new legislation being introduced.

There are agencies that may be able to help with hearing aids, though. I would suggest checking with the local social service department if your town has one or council on aging. These types of agencies can often point you in the right direction.

The Lions Club has long helped with hearing aids for those who can't afford them. At the beginning of this year they began a new program that offers help with the aids as well as the audiologist's costs. Not every club may participate in the new program yet but it would be worth giving them a call. Most areas have a Lion's Club either right in town or nearby.

Are there perhaps any Advantage plans that cover hearing aids, or is anyone who needs them going to have to just find a separate insurance plan or cover the costs on their own? It seems rather silly, when hearing aids are just as much a medical need as so many other ailments that are covered.
