I know too many people who work hard, but don't make enough to pay for medical care and aren't getting benefits from employers.

Can these people get Medicaid coverage?

I think in most cases the answer is yes. As long as there income does not exceed the limit they should still be able to receive medicare benefits. I know that this is the situation that more and more Americans are falling into, it is hard these days.

Unfortunately it doesn't take much for your income to exceed the limits my daughter and her husband have never been able to afford insurance with their jobs and they have always made "too much". Now however my daughter is pregnant so she receives medicaid for the duration of the pregnancy and the baby will be covered by a state plan.

Some of this will depend on what state you live in. I'm in Massachusetts and it's much easier to qualify for some form of Medicaid than it was when I lived in New Hampshire. Even those who do not qualify for absolutely free coverage will often qualify for a premium plan that is much cheaper than purchasing from an employer or through a private company.
