My father is very ill, and his doctor says he is eligible for Medicare-covered hospice care because he has less than six months to live. How long will Medicare cover this service?

Medicare covers hospice care for a person as long as a person is deemed to have less than six months to live. If a person under hospice care lives longer than six months, than the hospice doctor simply needs to re-evaluate the person, determine that they still have less than six months to live, and Medicare coverage will continue.

I advise looking into all aspects of hospice care before I decided what to do. I have seen some cases where the patient was sent home and was not allowed any doctor or hospital care, once hospice was approved.
