 Post subject: Moms going to hit 67... Any advice on applying.

From what I understand. Its going to be a trip to the social security office for both of us so she can apply. Once the application is submitted, its a waiting game. Any advice on avoiding some of the pitfalls?

You can find the application online, but it sounds like your mom is of retirement age.

It is wise to start the application process asap, to avoid delays in her getting payments.

Thanks for the reply and the information. I will give that link a good reading. I can't agree with you more on getting started now. We sure don't want to have any problems. :)

Great foresight :)

It is recommended to apply earlier. Medicare as a rule wants people to apply at least three months before they turn 65
